As such, I’ve taken it places in the mountains on steep (and I mean STEEP), narrow loose rock roads (most recently in Big Bend National Park and surrounding areas).

It is still our daily driver plus it does double duty as our towed vehicle behind our motorhome. All accessories - power windows, door locks, AC, electronics, lights - work. Have replaced fog lights a couple of times (road debris takes them out). Headlight lense covers are weathering (originals). Paint is beginning to show its age (I hate base coat/clear coat give me acrylic enamel any day). Nose of hood is a rock magnet (the car has never been wrecked or had any body repairs or paint). Replaced valve cover gasket & O2 sensor at ~ 330,000 miles struts ~ 340,000 miles (yes, they were overdue!). Engine uses NO OIL (Valvoline 5w30) and tranny has given no problems. Have maintained consistent and regular 3,000 mile interval oil changes. We keep up with the miles using the trip odometer. It has ~ 350,000 miles on it (speedometer will only register 299999 miles). This isn't a Firebird, but it will do.īought a 2006 Pontiac Vibe fwd, automatic new. I'm planning on repainting the Vibe, but I will continue with the Maroon color. Somebody has put tinting on the back window over the rear defroster, so I'm not bothering it. I have no idea what year model the Vibe is yet.

I'm hoping to find an owners manual on e-bay. The AC and the heater works well in the Vibe also. My sister said they have driven the Vibe to Arkansas many times and it still performs well. I have the check written out and ready to purchase my first Pontiac. The Pontiac handled the rough I 20 very well. It does use more fuel than my Honda Accord though. I drove it to Fort Worth a week ago and I'm happy with its performance. The Poniac Vibe has plenty of get up and go. I have to park my 2002 Honda Accord from now on. I need something reliable to drive from Longview TX to Fort Worth TX many times.

So I am buying my relatives Pontiac Vibe. Now my transmission in the Honda refuses to work on the highway. It won't die.I drove my relatives Pontic Vibe while my 2002 Honda Accords transmission was being worked on. Slept in it, camped in it, drove 4x4 mountain roads in The Grand Tetons.ģ70,000 miles on car so far. and took it up to 14000 feet on Mt Evans. to Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Wash State, to Wisconsin,ĭrove Glacier Park, Yellowstone, Tetons, Rocky Mt Park. Wisconsin to Niagara Falls via Ontario, to Wisconsin, Tent on its hatch, 9 inch ground clearance. And fast as bejeezus for a little old beer can. Runs great, engine sounds eager and ready and just broken in. This winter it sat outside in -5f for three weeks, started on first turn in 5 seconds.

I haved used valvoline full synthetic for 225,000 mi, and it runs like it did 15 years ago. I'll NEVER find one this fast, this economical and this utilitarian, even to the roof rack. Runs like a top.best engine I ever had in a car. Engine starts on first key turn even at -10f. Replaced water pump clutch and … starter. Can put a tent on the back and easily sleep in it. I take it winter camping with its 9 inch ground clearance. Handles excellent, fast, good visibility. Big enough for my sons to sit in the back.
